Counselors
Linda Horne is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in the counseling field. A native Texan, she has called Arlington home for the past 30 years. After receiving a degree in education from Texas Christian University (TCU) in 1973, she spent the early years of her career teaching elementary school. In 1989, she received her Masters of Education degree from TCU and changed her career focus to counseling. Her vast counseling experience and training, as well as, life experiences have made Linda well-equipped to assist adults in managing life transitions.
Challenges such as grief, parenting, changing career paths, and divorce, are often obstacles to living a joyful life. By creating a supportive environment to explore these issues, Linda helps her clients see the opportunities that may be possible and to identify and set goals.
Linda finds working with clients at the Paws for Reflection Ranch is the perfect place for discovering the peace and harmony within. It is an ideal setting for tapping into a person's strength and resilience, helping them on their path to a better life.
Amy Dojahn is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Masters of Education Degree. She received her degree from the University of North Texas in 1991 and has been a practicing LPC in private practice since 1994.
Amy felt called back to her hometown of Ennis, Texas in 1996 to give back to her community through counseling. She later combined her love of helping people and teaching by working part time at Navarro College in Waxahachie and Cedar Valley College in Lancaster.
Amy believes in accepting people where they are and introducing new ideas to them to consider for change. After training with both Greg Kersten of the OK Corral and the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Assoc. (EAGALA), she now combines her passion of horses and helping people by practicing Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) at the Ranch. EAC incorporates horses experientialy for emotional growth and learning. The participants learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with the horses, and then processing (or discussing) feelings, behaviors, and patterns. The utilization of the horse, a dynamic and powerful living being, creates confidence and provides for wonderful metaphors for the client or group to apply to challenging situations in their own life. The horse also has the ability to mirror what human body language is telling them. Horses don't lie, which makes them especially powerful messengers. In addition to EAC, Amy is also available to do more traditional counseling at the Ranch.
Although Amy has lived with a physical disability for over 40 years, she has a passionate, positive outlook on life and a desire to help others overcome challenges in their life. For relaxation, Amy and her husband enjoy weekend getaways meandering through the Texas Hill Country.
Equine Specialists
Dana Haley is one of the Horse Specialists at the Ranch and provides expert care and feeding of our herd. Dana studied horsemanship under the late Christine Radosta (former lead instructor of Therapeutic Riding of Texas (TROT). The star of Dana’s life is Dakota, a 15 year old Chestnut gelding that she has had since he was born. Dana has trained him herself and has even shown him in horse shows. Dana can ride both English and Western, but prefers Western. She finds that she is most peaceful when she is riding Dakota.
Dana was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas and came to Texas to go to college in 1985. She majored in Piano Performance at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU). She prefers jazz, classical, and new age, with her favorite composers being Chopin & Mozart. Dana has been teaching piano lessons for the last 7 years. She enjoys watching the students progress and likes to teach them to love music.
Dana loves all animals and keeps busy pet sitting in the south Dallas and Midlothian area. When not teaching piano and taking care of horses, dogs, cats, and other pets, Dana likes to read and watch movies.
