The interconnection between individuals and animals provides benefits on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Our dream is for our Ranch to provide a serene and caring environment where one can take a break from the busy day-to-day world to "pause and reflect".

Newly remodeled Multi-Purpose Room!

You must see our new Multi-Purpose Room to fully appreciate it's uniqueness.  Creatively designed to look like a back porch but yet inside!  From the tin roof ceiling, to the "crumbling" brick walls, the crackle painted cabinets and doors to the stained glass windows - it was quite an endeavor.  MANY thanks to the volunteers who worked long, hot hours to make sure this room was completed on time.

More barn cats have arrived:

Frannie & Chevy have now joined the Ranch barn security team.  Many thanks to BarnCats Incorporated for bringing us more friends. These young ladies are still a little skittish but we know they will settle in and join the barn welcoming committee.

Renovations:  Ranch staff and volunteers are busy renovating our facility.  Buildings and decks are sporting a new coat of paint.  The multi-purpose room is getting a total makeover.  Pictures coming soon.  We invite you to come see the progress we have made and lend a helping hand.

Yoga:

We are pleased to announce that Ranch yoga instructor, Dawn Harris has joined together with fellow yoga instructor Chris Engebretsen to open their own yoga studio.  At Crescent Yoga Studio, located in Midlothian, Dawn and Chris are offering ongoing yoga classes, as well as, special workshops.  For more information, check out their website:  www.crescentyogastudio.com

Mini Camps:

Knitting from Nature - campers started by making their own knitting needles and then began learning the art of knitting.  By the end of camp, they were well on their way to starting a new hobby.

Beeswax Art Crayons - budding artists used block crayons made from beeswax to create nature scenes.  Campers learned new techniques and applied them to their drawing.  The Ranch animals enjoyed posing as models for the kids to draw.

   Kamp Kindness:

Our 2nd annual Kamp Kindness was a tremendous success!  We're not sure who had the most fun - the kampers, the counselors or the animals!  Five days filled with arts and crafts, loving fun with the animals, music, and of course, swimming.  Each day focused on a different aspect of Kindness (animals, people, nature, earth, and self), as well as, interaction with a specific animal of the day.  Look for pictures in the Photo Gallery.

     Camp Hope:

Stan, Melode, Dana, and Kaitlyn took the minis on a road trip to the Federal Medical Prison in Fort Worth to participate in Camp Hope.  The camp provides an opportunity for inmates to spend quality time with their families.  Miniature horses, Jesse James & Tucker, enjoyed interacting with everyone and being the center of attention.  This was a rewarding experience for all.

Field Trips:

What fun we had with all the kids that visited the Ranch during the spring field trips!  Everyone learned about horses, explored the wonders of nature along the trail and in Discovery Corral, and put the minis thru the paces of an obstacle course. Thanks to Tamra Boteler, Dana Haley, and the many volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

New Workshop Announced:

Dancing in the Stillness of the Heart with the Spirit of the Horse.
Presented by Allison Ingels, a Certified Equine Experiential Learning Facilitator specializing in inspired living and healing from the heart.

Check the calendar for more details.

New photos added to Photo Gallery and Animal Antics - Enjoy!!

Introducing New Ranch Partners

Meet Sundance and Ozzie our new residence barn cats.  They can always be found on top of the highest hay bales, making sure no-one, including the horses, makes off with the hay.

Somewhere over the Rainbow...

Ranch restoration complete

Thankfully, the restoration of the facility upstairs is complete.  The living room and kitchen are much more comfortable and inviting.  With a western decor, the warm colors are welcoming and the new furniture makes you want to "sit a spell".

A special thank you to State Farm Insurance-Agent John Berry, Aims Building, Inc. (team led by Greg Jenkins) and to those that donated to the Restoration Fund for turning a discouraging situation into a blessing.  We appreciate the patience of our guests during our remodeling and invite everyone to stop by soon for a visit...

Did you see us in the Midlothian NOW magazine?

We are pleased to report that a feature article was done in the October 2009 issue of the Midlothian NOW magazine highlighting the work of Life Coach Allison Ingels.  The piece, entitled "A Reflection of Peace", focused on horse painting, part of an equine assisted counseling process.  The horses, all eager to participate in the photo shoot, did an amazing job of posing.  Thanks to all who participated in our demonstration of horse painting.  We're thankful for the opportunity to be in Midlothian NOW.  If you do not have access to this magazine and would like to receive a copy of our article, please give us a call at 972-775-8966 or email us at pawsforreflection@att.net

Paws for Life

We’re starting a new program called Paws for Life especially for clients who are currently battling cancer and those who are cancer survivors.  Allison Ingels, a cancer survivor herself, will be leading the sessions alongside her specially trained horses.  In her heart centered healing practice, Allison assists people in moving beyond illness and pain by identifying core issues and healing the residue of upsetting memories, distracting emotions, self-limiting beliefs, and related physical distress.

As with any illness, expenses are tremendous.  To enable these clients to participate in the healing sessions, we’re setting up a new sponsorship program.  When you make a donation, you can designate the funds be allocated to this special program.  Grateful acknowledgment will be sent to families when a memorial donation has been made.  Fees for service for those eligible will be based on a sliding scale and the client’s ability to pay.

Many paths lead these clients to healing at the Paws for Reflection Ranch.  Working with Allison and her horses, promotes the healing of emotional issues that are contributing to their illness.  They also regain the power to make choices regarding care and treatment.   It is our mission that the client experience healing of the whole mind, body, and spirit aiding them in their recovery process.

Your donation will make a difference in the life of another.

In the Media Again!

The Paws for Reflection Ranch will be featured in the Oct/Nov edition of the Midlothian Now magazine.  Melode Seremet and Allison Ingels were interviewed by Betty Tryon, writer for the magazine.  The focus of the article is about Healing with Horses and the use of painting on the horses during sessions.  To protect the privacy of our clients, we staged a "sample" session for photographic purposes.  Our volunteers had such fun painting their ponies!  The horses enjoyed the attention and of course, the treats they received for being such willing partners.  Be on the lookout for our article!

Kroger Neighbor to Neighbor Donation Program

We have been approved once again to be part of the Kroger Donation Program.  Letters with our new barcode are now available.  All you have to do is bring the letter to your Kroger store and give it to the cashier at checkout.  They will scan the barcode and your Kroger Plus Card together enrolling you as a contributor for the current year.

Let us know if you shop at Kroger and we'll get you a letter to take to the store.  Kroger donates 1% of each $1 you spend.  Thanks for participating!
