While being in a male dominated organization women's issues often go unnoticed or ignored. When looking for help with addiction and mental health issues treatment for a woman is different than treatment for a man. In this group, needs, expectations, and struggles will all be addressed from a woman's perspective.
Traumatic experiences can disrupt normal development. They can make daily functioning difficult and even strain relationships. This group is open to all adult women suffering from addiction and who seek peace from past or current traumas. Our Ranch provides a comfortable, safe, and encouraging atmosphere for healing and personal growth while gaining a new sense of hope.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from PTSD symtoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Studies show that people using EMDR therapy can experience the benefits of psychotherapy more quickly that with other therapies. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body can heal from physical trauma. A study funded by HMO Kaiser Permanente found that 100% of single trauma victims and 77% of multiple trauma victims no longer were diagnosed with PTSD after only six 50 minute sessions. EMDR therapy is recognized by the American Psychiatric Association, World Health Organization, and Department of Defense as an effective form of treatment for trauma.
EMDR Therapy is an eight-phase treatment. Eye movements (or other bilateral stimulation) are used during one part of the session. After the clinician has determined which memory to target first, he asks the client to hold different aspects of that event or thought in mind and to use his eyes to track the therapist's hand as it moves back and forth in the client's field of vision. As this happens, for reasons believed by a Harvard researcher to be connected to the biological mechanisms involved in Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, internal associations arise and clients begin to process the memory and disturbing feelings. The net effect is that clients conclude EMDR therapy feeling empowered by the very experiences that once debased them. Their wounds have not just closed, they have transformed.
Children ages 3 to 8 work with a trained counselor to process life changes, trauma, or address behavioral/emotional issues using their natural language, play. Children may choose to partner with a small animal in the therapy process.
We do not bill insurance but we are happy to provide you with a medical receipt so that you may file for reimbursement with your insurance provider.
Youth at Risk Programs
Youth at risk of academic or social failure participate in group Equine Assisted Counseling and equine activities. These youth are empowered to develop leadership and life skills and to identify and strive toward goals.
Boots of Honor (Military/Veteran Programs)
Equine Assisted Counseling (EAC) incorporates horses into traditional counseling in a non-traditional setting. Guided through horse related activities by a licensed therapist and an equine professional, the client increases their awareness of their thoughts, words, and actions. This enables the client to recognize dysfunctional behavior patterns, define healthy relationships, improve communication, and build problem-solving skills.
Enjoying activities with one of the many Ranch animals provides opportunities for self-exploration and discussion. Our creativity flows more easily when relaxed and the Ranch animals help up to live more in the moment.
The Ranch offers a welcome change to the hustle-bustle of daily life. Relax and watch the horses graze, or stroll along the nature trail. The natural environment provides an ideal place to quiet the mind and break down challenges.
Throughout the year, the Ranch hosts various events for families with members serving or who have served in the Armed Forces. In the near future, the Ranch hopes to begin a Summer program specifically for children of those currently serving in the Armed Forces.
Harmony in the Herd
Harmony in the Herd is an experiential team building program designed with your business in mind. Move learning out of the office and to the ranch where you will experience the incredible results of horse guided learning. Thru horseplay, you will identify and remove barriers leaving a clear path to the success of your business. Today's organizations can only function effectively if their people know how to work together productively in high-performance teams.
Why horses? Horses must know how to effectively communicate and work together, achieving Harmony in the Herd. Having no egos or hidden agendas, horses are the perfect partners to assist us with goal setting, self-discovery, and problem-solving. Horses have proven to be incredible teachers of leadership and team work. Your team will come face-to-face with their personal leadership challenges and will be coached to overcome them. The changes they make are reflected back instantly in a dramatic and memorable way by the response of the horses.
